Update on the Ekins...Pretty Boring!

Hey, Guys. Nothing much new going on here at the Ekins house.

Dixon started clogging up again. There are 2 other Moms in Thatcher so we each drive a month...so I have a break until November.

Jackson has Karate today and gets to test for his green belt on Saturday. The leader that does the testing is pretty intimidating so I hope he does okay. He has improved so much in the last 4 months since he got his yellow belt. His teacher, Robyn, says that he is more than ready for the next step.

After 5 years in Primary, I have been released and put on the Homemaking Board as Taster's Table extraordinaire! I will miss Primary but it will be nice to go to Relief Society. I think Kevin's ready to not have to take Kasen to class with him, too. Jackson is kind of sad because I was his teacher. To keep him from crying, I told him I need him as my Chef's Helper. Well, he took this to mean that we would spend Sunday cooking and he didn't have to go to primary!

Kasen is finally crawling on his knees. For about 2 months, he has been doing the belly slide and pulling himself with his arms. It was pretty cute. I have a feeling walking is not too far away. He is growing too fast. It seems like he made it to 1 much more quickly than the other boys and I don't like it. I am so glad that I did not go back to work. I would have missed so much with all 3 of the boys. I have signed up to Sub this year but am only going to do select jobs...probably with teachers that I know or have taught with before.

Kevin was supposed to start his new shift on Monday but it is getting pushed back another week. This is the second time it's been delayed. All in all, it's pretty frustrating. In the new shift, He would work 12 hour shifts, 3 days one week and 4 days the next and the days that he has off would rotate on a 2 week rotation with a 3 day weekend every other week. He would finally be able to be home a few days during the week so he could see Dixon. They are really missing eachother because they only see eachother on Saturday and Sunday. And that's if he's not working on Saturday. Hopefully this is the last delay.

I'll let you know how Jackson does on Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed!

I'm glad you gave us an update It's funny how when you sit and think about life seems pretty normal...cook breakfast, fold laundry, chase kids...but really we each put our own spin on things and there are lots of little moments and accomplishments that make life wonderful!!
I'm glad to be in touch with you online so I don't miss out on your life and what you are doing!

Shaylyn-
thanks for the update. I love reading your blog. You have a special way of writing. You should pursue writing a humorous book about your life with three boys. I'd buy one.
also, now that you have a grand new calling do you have ideas for breakfasts? I need new ideas to make for Mazie.
Help!
