Green Belt Photos and Updates...A Month Late

So, an update on Jackson's Green Belt pursuits. He did earn the green belt and did a great job. He has made vast improvements since January. Not only in his Karate skills but in his ability to stand still for 3.65 seconds and listen (I typed listen 4 times before I got the spelling right!) Anyway, Robin, his teacher, didn't have enough green belts when presenting them in class so, without thinking, she grabbed Jackson's so she could present it to the last student while I took his picture. Jackson thought she was giving his belt to the other kid and started to cry. It was really sad. I could tell he was trying to be brave but it wasn't working out too well. I quickly straightened him out and he was relieved when he finally got that precious belt in his possession. I am so proud of all that he has accomplished. Not just in karate but in the roping arena, abc learning, bow-and-arrow shooting, map drawing, rodeo planning, rock collecting, weapon making, scuba diving (aka drowning in Grandma and Pa's hot tub!), etc. Just to refresh your memory...He is an expert in all these fields and so many more!
See his face. He is trying not to cry but not doing a very good job at it!

Also, a brag on Dixon. I volunteer at his school every Wednesday swapping out the students take home reading books. So, I see what level other kids are on in his class, grade level, and other grade levels through 3rd grade. Dixon is the highest reader in the whole 2nd grade and there are only a handful of 3rd graders that are reading at a higher level than he is. This does not surprise me because he has always loved to read and is constantly in a book.

Now for Kasen! I can't do 2 without adding the 3rd! Kasen is crawling like gang-busters. He is just starting to walk along the couch so he'll be walking before we know it. He got a new sippy cup with a straw and that is really helping his Independence! He doesn't need me to tip the cup back for him like with a regular sippy! This is a major milestone. I just took him to the doctor for his 1 year check-up. He is 22 pounds and doing really well.

I'm really lucky to have these three awesome, rambunctious, cute, sweet, smart, funny, mannerly, nice boys.

It sounds like you and your family are doing good. Congrats to Jackson on the karate, and also to your other too. Grandma LeFevre would be so proud of Dixon and give him one of her famous kisses!
